CE – Divorce: Borrower Basics

You don’t want to miss this new 1 hour CE course taught by LaNell Long of First United Mortgage and Family Law Attorney David Echols, founder of Echols & Associates.

The first half of this class will cover current mortgage guidelines, requirements and typical scenarios for working with buyers dealing with divorce in some capacity during the RE transaction process. The second half, family law attorney David Echols of Echols & Associates will discuss family law issues relating to real estate and the buying process.

About the Instructors

Mr. Echols is the co-founder of Echols and Associates and has practiced law in South Oklahoma City for 40 years, limiting his practice to all aspects of Family Law. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has been an AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell for more than twenty years. Mr. Echols is an Adjunct Law Professor at Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he teaches “Family Law,” and he formerly taught “Family Law and Public Policy” to graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Central Oklahoma. He frequently teaches and lectures on the topic of Family Law to Oklahoma attorneys. He is activity involved in South Oklahoma City community activities and is on the Board of Directors of Parent Promise the Oklahoma Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. In 2017, Mr. Echols was appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate for a 6 year term on the Board of Regents of Oklahoma City Community College.


OKCMAR Affiliate Chair LaNell Long has experience in various  aspects of real estate. In her 20-year career as a private real estate investor, she specialized in contract for deed and rent-to-own for
underserved buyers. In 2015 she decided to go back to school and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Southern Nazarene University. At the urging of a good friend who is
a loan officer, Ms. Long obtained her NMLS in 2016, became a loan officer full time and hasn’t looked back!

In 2017, she developed a 13-hour curriculum for Continuing Education available to OKCMAR REALTOR® members. Ms. Long is currently a loan officer with First United Bank Mortgage and is obtaining her
MBA from Southern Nazarene University.
